This is a question Corporate Idiocy

Comedian Al Murray recounts a run-in with industrial-scale stupidity: "Car insurance company rang, without having sent me a renewal letter, asking for money. Made them answer security questions." In the same vein, tell us your stories about pointless paperwork and corporate quarter-wits

I'd call it mongement but I'd be insulting mongs
I know just what you mean.

Gone in on a day off to deal with alarm maintenance, as the security alarm tech does me some favors (being as I'm married to him). Only to find, well, only to NOT find the fire/smoke detectors where they ought to be.

I've no doubt that I shall walk into some exec's office and find the parts in there, after all, it's more important to save a few coins by trying to replace batteries oneself (eventually) than to call in the tech to check a low battery on a piece of wireless equipment attached to the ceiling. It's just a few fire/smoke detectors in a Victorian-era wood frame building full of flammables and on some days, actual workers working.

And if the exec's made a mess of things, each one is a $150 device, installed, and I am not going to ask Mr. Kila to give it to us as a favor.
