sometimes
the first marriage is a mistake.

Stastics can show that sure, but that still only gives you a generalisation. And sure, the majority of men who cheat will do it again because they're ratbags and assholes.

But some who do it because they made a genuine mistake with their first marriage, then realised what they had to do to change this by meeting somebody new, will then go on to spend the rest of their lives happily monogomous.(sp)

So... I don't know which this guy is here in this story.

I'm just saying that it's possible (not probable) that a man who cheats once will never do it again.

Some of you may think me naive
But what darras says is true - first marriage was a mistake and I was simply the catalyst for ending it. From first kiss to moving in together took 2 months, and we have not spent a night apart since July 2006 (which is actually a bit sad!)

I concur in a general sense with the "once a cheat always a cheat" philosophy, I would never do it and it would be over toot sweet if anyone did it to me, but to totally contradict myself, I cheated (only a kiss!) on an ex, and it was the act of cheating that made me realise things had gone tits up with that partnership, so we split up. I think there's a difference between serial cheaters and cheating being a catalyst for ending a relationship that is already dead.

Just my twopenn'orth!
