This is a question Hotel Splendido

Enzyme writes, "what about awful hotels, B&Bs, or friends' houses where you've had no choice but to stay the night?"

What, the place in Oxford that had the mattresses encased in plastic (crinkly noises all night), the place in Blackpool where the night manager would drum to the music on his ipod on the corridor walls as he did his rounds, or the place in Lancaster where the two single beds(!) collapsed through metal fatigue?

Add your crappy hotel experiences to our list.

I stayed there last June.
When we arrived at reception we were greeted by the sight of some very giggly paramedics and policemen, some very pissed-off looking hotel staff and one very nonchalant looking bloke in the middle of them all.

Turns out the nonchalant bloke worked at the hotel and hadn't been paid for months...so he turned up and superglued his hand to the desk.

We were supposed to get a complimentary bottle of wine as well. We weren't very happy when we rolled in drunk at three in the morning and there was no wine to be found. We spent nearly an hour harassing anyone we could find demanding our free bottle, in the end I threatened to superglue my hand to the bar if we didn't get one. I don't think they found it very funny but we did get our wine.

It wasn't very nice wine though. We had a swig each and then fell asleep.

I don't even like wine.
