This is a question The Credit Crunch

Did you score a bargain in Woolworths?
Meet someone nice in the queue to withdraw your 10p from Northern Rock?
Get made redundant from the job you hated enough to spend all day on b3ta?

How has the credit crunch affected you?

I worked
until 10 PM last night.

I worked on an independent report that my employers had comissioned into how the recession is affecting people.

I then sent it directly to Gordon Brown's office.

I may be the only person on B3ta who has told the primeminister exactly what he thinks about the situation. (or at least the only B3tan indescrete enough to write about it)

I also, in very tiny letters, wrote (in white text on a white background), on every page, the phrase 'Gordon Brown is a cunt'.*

*OK, I didn't really.**

**well, I did, but then I realised if anyone did 'select all' it would show up, no matter what font size I used, so I deleted them all again.***

***I am slightly paranoid that I missed any though.

Also,
Just for the record...

I am very liberal. I have voted Labour in every election I have been eligible to vote in.

I just happen to still think that Gordon Brown is a cunt.

And Blair for that matter, but I didn't realise that when I helped get him elected.

Hmm, several contradictions here
1) there is a Lib. Dem party, if you were liberal maybe you could vote for them. Just an idea, that will never take on. We insist on voting for Labour / Conservative even though we ***know*** both parties are deeply flawed, because:

(a) The Lib Dems don't have any experience in government;
(b) they won't get enough votes to get in, so why bother.

I find these statements amusing in a hideous sort of way, knowing that we are going to have a Tory government next thanks to this sort of thinking.

(2) If you thought Blair was a cunt, why did you vote for him three times ?

I like Blair but not Brown
For all the crap Blair got, I thought the guy was pretty pragmatic, as open as any politician can be (which is to say not much), and generally did try to justify his actions in an articulate and generally coherent manner. If you asked Bush why he did this or that I expect you would be met by mumbling nonsense. I thought the whole Iraq war was bullshit but I think Britain was trapped by its obligations to some extent.

Brown has the charisma of a damp stain on the wall which hardly makes for for much uplifting feelings. At least he is an ex-chancellor and has more than a clue how the economy works. Maybe he's the best choice to have right now despite his personality bypass.

ho hum
I hope you used a spell check on the report unlike your post.

Yeah
sorry, I tend to write what I think.

Workwise, I go back and check it later, B3tawise, I post too quickly.

I will go and relearn the new QOTW FAQ.

EDIT: Mind you, I have no fucking clue how to spell 'indescrete' anyway.

'indiscrete'
.
(, Sat 24 Jan 2009, 16:53, closed)
that would be 'indiscreet'
'discrete' means individual- as in standalone units. Discreet means, you know, what you thought discrete meant.

That's an indiscretion.

I know of at least one other b3tan who has written directly to Mr Brown
In fact this particular b3tan is on first name terms with his local MP - not because they know each other socially, but because the MP receives letters and emails on a very, very regular basis from this b3tan.

No doubt he'll be along in a moment to post his reply to this post too...

Oh, and by the way, if you use Firefox there is an add on which has a built in spell checker. I rely upon it.

*coughs*
I wouldn't feel ashamed Scarpe, I voted Labour in 1997. Never voted Labour again though and never will as long as I live.

I consider myself a Liberal too, I share a great many of the ideals of the Lib Dem party. But they're just not electable are they?

It would be different if my vote counted ie they brought in Proportional Representation, or better still the electorate could force the elected government to implement cherry-picked policies. I'm all for liberal economics, banking reform and sensible immigration policy, yet I want to see wrongdoers given stiffer sentences. I want to see less reliance on fossil fuels, but they can shove green taxes.

Don't ever be afraid of your opinions. It's up to politicians to shape their policies to fit with your opinion. Not the other way around.
