Cringe!
Chickenlady winces, "I told a Hugh Grant/Divine Brown joke to my dad, pretending that Ms Brown was chewing gum so she'd be more American. Instead I just appeared to be still giving the blow-job. Even as I'm writing this I'm cringing inside."
Tell us your cringeworthy stories of embarrassment. Go on, you're amongst friends here...

Snatch
A few years back I was having a quiet pint in the local chatting to a friend and I asked him if he'd seen the film Snatch yet as I had rather enjoyed it.
He confirmed that he had and to prove the point announced in a loud voice with a bad cockney accent "I fucking hate pikeys".
Unfortunately at this very moment an old Indian guy walked in the door.
The pub descended into silence and the old guy just turns around and walks straight back out into the night.

thought as much
Some folk have a chip on their shoulder and look for an excuse to be offended.
I say we sterilise these people.

Oh gosh that is unfortunate.
Quoting can cause so much trouble. I personally have an embarrassing tendency to start singing songs that get stuck in my head even when I am in public and the chorus goes "I hope you die, I hope we both die" in a cheery manner, or consists of the word "fuck" at repeated eight times in different pitch. Thankfully I have as yet managed to avoid singing "something here will eventually have to explode" on a train, but there have been some close calls.

If he was Indian
...why should he care anyway?
Indians usually DO hate Pakistani people.

Which is why
he may have had a problem with someone in a pub insinuating that that is exactly what he was.
