This is a question What Makes You Cry?

That bit in the Railway Children when Jenny Agutter says "Daddy! My Daddy!". Gets me every time. I am 48 years old.

Cats pass here every day
then they walk the other way. They usually die after 12 to 15 years. Since when did pass become the accepted euphemism for die? Learn to say what you mean.

Yes I'm old. Probably old enough to be your father (or grandfather, given that I was a precocious lad).

I love that euphemism you see on headstones: "Not dead, just sleeping"
They're going to be fucking pissed off when they wake up, then.

I'd really like to see one that says "Not sleeping, just dead".

Years ago the accepted term was 'passed away'
but now somehow the away part is too harsh.

That's what happens when you let kids play violent video games.
