This is a question Desperate Times

Stranded in a hotel in an African war zone with no internet access for two weeks, I was forced to resort to desperate measures. Possessing only my passport and the clothes I stood up in; and the warning "You can catch it shaking hands with a vicar out there" ringing in my ears, I had to draw my own porn in order to preserve my sanity.

Alas, it all came out looking like Coronation Street's Audrey Roberts, but, as they say, any port in a storm.

What have you done in times of great desperation?

Desperate for work
1990, and fresh out of college after 3 years of studying graphic design. I want to work. Two weeks of being on Income Support, and I had already decided I couldn't live like that. I needed to make some decent money, and I didn't care how.

So I took a temporary, 2 week stint working back shifts in a factory. Packing ladies sanitary protection.

Still, £250 a week in 1990 was not to be sniffed at. I suppose you could call it blood money...

I'll get me coat...

Could have been worse
It might have been in a confectionery factory, packing fudge...

Funnily enough...
In my days as a jobcentre monkey, and before all this touch screen technology, we had a job placed on our vacancy boards from a confectionary company, requiring fudge packers...

Oh, how we laughed. No one asked about it, which was odd.

Honestly
I worked in a warehouse that distributed fanny pads all over the North-East.

But only for a short period.

%1000 true.

Cheers

Hi Legless
It wasn't Sancella by any chance was it? And about 5 days..?

Maybe it's just me, but I find the fact that the factory in question is now one of those kiddy-adventure indoor play areas just a tad disturbing...
