Well, the Prius vs. M3 thingwas probably just because Clarkson, for some reason, really *hates* the Prius. (Yeah, I'm biased, my parents have one and I quite like it.)
It was *interesting*, yes, but not particularly surprising or meaningful - if you floor it in any car it won't do too well on economy, plus the Prius blatantly isn't designed for that sort of thing. The point that driving style makes a huge difference is a good one, but no matter how you drive it, the car does so too.
(And the bit about the Prius battery being so environmentally damaging - I thought that was debunked years ago?)
