Adverts that lied to me as a childI remember thinking that sub-par Disney Sci-Fi The Black Hole was just the greatest thing EVAH when I was a nipper. Imagine my joy when I found out you could buy a toy of the little hovering robot, VINCENT, from it.
Now imagine my disappointment one Christmas morn when I discovered that, contrary to how it appeared in the TV advert, the bastard thing didn't actually hover of its own accord, what with that technology not actually existing in the early 1980's. Or now, for that matter.

godflashbacks - you've just reminded me of my "she-ra" doll when i was about 6. i was breathless with anticipation, wondering how it changed from princess to superwoman when i said "for the honour of greyskull" or whatever it was... and in the cartoon you never saw her change back. how did that happen? how??
i was quivering with excitement when i opened the package.
yeah, so there are plastic accessories that you just pull off the doll yourself...
i was devastated!
