Now then, Mr LoonCareful now. It may be one country now, but each bit still retains a strong (sometimes even fierce) national identity. Bear in mind that the inhabitants of this island were knocking lumps out of each other before the US was populated by anything other than a few people who'd made it over the Bering strait and many millions of bison.
And remember we did at one time rule the US. Well a bit of it, at least.
(Yes, I know you kicked us out eventually!)
