Been thereA friend and I booked in for a tandem skydive (not with each other) in February 2007. We jumped in June 2008.
The jump centre was 2.5 hours drive away, and seeing as the cheapest day to jump was a wednesday, we had to keep taking days off work. Seven times it was called off due to strong winds, rain and poor visibility.
Eighth time lucky. I have pictures of me at 12,000ft, falling at 120mph, flipping the double-deuces to the world.
It was MAGIC.
