This is a question DIY disasters

I just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.

Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

Tell us of your own DIY disasters.

sounds familiar...
reminds me of going out on the beer with my brother-in-law (who until recently was a drunken student - my student days were drunker, but are behind me). We get back to his house to find the alram has been going off all day. Neighbours not best pleased. Also, they were made nervous by the mob of drunken yobbos trying to get into the house with the alarm blaring (us).

We get in, at which point one of our number decides the best way to silence the alarm is to go outside with a curtain pole and knock seven bells out of the alarm. It works, after a fashion (alarm falls off wall). Neighbour goes hysterical and threatens to call police, at which point the pole-weilder says "it's alright love, I'm already here". God bless the Met....
