
I just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

that thing went off all the time, day or night. If I opened every window in my flat, and closed the door between my kitchen and the alarm, it would STILL go off every time I cooked something (that's just normal cookery, nothing ever got burned), even if it was just shreddies for breakfast.
Every time it went off my flat was filled with it's eardrum-piercing, high-pitched siren, and every time I had to fetch a chair to stand on, then hold the button for 5 seconds to turn it off, only for it to start again a minute later.
Eventually I smashed it to death with a hammer, I'd rather burn alive than listen to that again.
