DIY disastersI just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

excellentYour "bloody-great-long-extension-cord-out-of-the-bog-window" reminded me of a job I had a while ago where the Powers that Be had banned extension cords on account of them being a fire hazard (sure, if you plug too much stuff into a too-skinny cord, but not if you know what you're doing. Fortunately, though, power strips were allowed, and it turns out that the business community had decided to address our needs by making power strips with 25-foot cords. Win!
