DIY disasters
I just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

I rented a flat from them in 96/97
On Kelso Road (no 22, if you must know) - top floof of a terraced house. Firstly they had left the Velux window upside down for a month, so I had to hoover the water off of the carpet where it had rained in the bedroom, then they tried to charge me for a washing machine being plumbed in, when *I* plumbed it in with my dad (CORGI registered, so no arguments), then finally they tried to charge me for a new carpet in the kitchen which had, admittedly had a frying sausage dropped on it by my flatmate. The dropped that one when I pointed out the only reason the fridgefreezer wasn't in the bath of the flat downstairs was because they had STAPLED THE ROTTEN CARPET DOWN AROUND THE HOLE IN THE FLOOR THEY WERE HIDING WITH THE FRIDGE-FREEZER*. Twats.
Mr Parmar, who I rented a house in Norwood Road (LS6) from was much better - when we complained about the slugs on the lounge carpet he said "all houses have that" and took us to his house to prove it...whaddaya know, all houses did have slugs...well, all his houses, at least. Bless.
