DIY disastersI just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.
Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

Reminds me ofmy mom's exploding rum cake.
One day she had to bring a dessert to a social function and had forgotten about it until that afternoon, so she hastily threw together a rum cake and went to shower and dress. As she was getting dressed she heard a WHUMP. Going to the kitchen she found the door to the electric oven standing open. Puzzled, she closed it and went to continue getting dressed, and heard another WHUMP.
It turned out that in her haste she had doused the cake with Bacardi 151 instead of normal rum. But it was well received!
