Alternatively, dont store a spoon in the sugar bowl.Just use the same spoon to put sugar in and stir.
The dishwasher thing I can agree with. The cutlery basket has different areas for a reason. Compartmentalise your cutlery, then you can grab a handful of forks/spoons at once, instead of having to pick out individual items.

A different section for cutlery?Now thats posh.
Though personally I prefer sorting out my cutlery when its clean, rather than when its encrusted with day-old food.
