Driven to Madness
Captain Placid asks: What annoying things do significant others, workmates and other people in general do that drive you up the wall? It's partly deliberate...
The 'sales psychologists' who tell Supermarkets to move their stuff around every so often to force you to look at everything again have also decided that you can be in a 'travelling mode' and a 'shopping mode' and they lay out the shop to make you slow down or stop near the entrance, so your brain has time to switch mode.
That's why big supermarkets often have that bloody annoying layer of gates to go through just inside the door now - there's no extra security or anything given by them, it just creates a bottleneck that slows you down ON PURPOSE.
