Wicker man...If you want to see something genuinely disturbing, visit Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, in October. Every year the residents hold a Scarecrow Festival and some of the creations are truly macabre. The town looks like it comes straight from the set of one of those "you don't want to spend a night in the old widow Johnson's house" type of rural horror movies. I was expecting every resident to have similar facial features and one of three surnames, and I'm honestly surprised there wasn't a giant, hollow wicker statue ready for immolation.

Here toThey have a similar thing in a village near Driffield in East Yorkeshire.
We encountered it on a very dark and stormy night with no warning whatsoever.

There's.........a place like that up near Edinburgh, thats just a pub, three houses and a barn. I don't think it even has a name.
Used to have an aunt who occupied one of the houses. Visiting at hallowe'en scared the utter shit out of me as a young 'un.
Still occasionally pass through it when visiting family, and its a tad more built up now. Still creepy though
