This is a question Eccentrics

We all know someone who's a little bit strange - Mum's UFO abduction secret, or the mad Uncle who isn't allowed within 400 yards of Noel Edmonds.

Tell us about your family eccentrics, or just those you've met but don't think you're related to.

There is a gentleman
who from about November onwards can be seen hanging around outside the Barnes and Noble bookstore on the University of Chicago campus protesting loudly and with full colour pictures about what he considers to be the evils of circumcision.

Dressed as Santa.

EDIT: I've had a "tip off" that he's not really Santa at all. Ho ho, and indeed ho...

Ooooh, I'm off to Chicago in a few weeks
Do include a map. I'll try and get photos :-)

Oooh, it's in Hyde Park
on the South Side, home of Mr Obama and gun crime. 57th and Ellis to be exact, right by the neurology department of the hospital.

If you want travel tips for the fair city of Chicago, do gaz me...

Thank you kindly
I already have a tourguide and associate arranged, who funnily enough, also has the surname Ellis.

Take a good coat.
And warm socks...

Mind you, if you're going in November, you'll be okay. December, pack your thermals. If you do venture to the South Side (and if you're not going to the University, there's not much point as there's bugger all else there) do visit Ribs and Bibs on 53rd and Dorchester...

I shall bear that in mind
I'm going the week before Christmas and I've got a penthouse on the magnificent mile, because I'm a cowardly, obnoxious tourist :-)

if you collect records Evanston is for you.
If you don't, it's still very pretty, mind.

Maybe
He has confused neurology with urology?

Fair play to him
I can't see why it's considered culturally normal in the States to have the end of your peestick chopped off at a very early age.

But then again they're a queer bunch.

I'd second that
Circumcision performed for religious reasons is one thing, but the medical arguments are pretty weak and basically boil down to hygiene.

On the otherhand there's plenty of evidence on the benefits of the foreskin - protection from desensitisation, possible role in female stimulation during intercourse.

Above all it's just cruel and unusual.

Medical arguments
Circumcision makes as much sense as cutting off your lips to reduce gum disease.
