Pointless Experiments
Pavlov's Frog writes: I once spent 20 minutes with my eyes closed to see what it was like being blind. I smashed my knee on the kitchen cupboard, and decided I'd be better off deaf as you can still watch television.

Operation Manky Garden
Can you, I asked in the name of SCIENCE, grow a tomato crop, from poos derived from an all-tomato diet?
Despite two years of trying, an ASBO, the disgust of those I hold dear and Nutter-of-the-Week recognition from this fine website, the answer is a sound NO.
I have resisted the temptation to repeat this experiment with peaches, but have found - through carefully recorded experimentation - that beetroot makes your piss purple.
If you are not expecting purple piss, it can also make you think you are dying of kidney failure.
Don't do it kids!

Yes.
Years ago, one hot summer, I was temping at a water works office - very dull filing and shit like that. Outside the window was a flat piece of ground with a multitude of tomato plants growing, fruit ripening on the ground (they obviously weren't tied up on stakes), glistening in the balmy sunshine.
I asked why someone would plant them there, and was told no-one had - they'd just had a sewage overflow earlier in the year onto that ground and even after it had been ruthlessly cleaned, a lot of undigested tomato pips managed to germinate and grow.
And no, I never tried one. I don't like tomatoes.

I agree with vertigo...
it is possible. My parents bought a place in France to renovate. In the times before we had kitchen/bedroom/bathroom we had a caravan with a chemical toilet. We would dig a latrine at the bottom of the field and empty the waste into it before covering it over again. One summer at one of the latrine sites there was a crop of tomato plants. My father still thinks they were some of the best tomatoes he has ever tasted.

Yes, I've seen it done, in industrial proportions
on the sewage filter beds that were near my home when I was a kid.
