This is a question Pointless Experiments

Pavlov's Frog writes: I once spent 20 minutes with my eyes closed to see what it was like being blind. I smashed my knee on the kitchen cupboard, and decided I'd be better off deaf as you can still watch television.

At night....
on a road you know well (preferably a straight one) see how long you can keep your headlights turned off for. bonus points if you're breaking the speed limit at the same time.

haha
I did that once, albeit by accident. Was demonstrating to a mate what coasting was by killing the engine on Saddleworth Moors (VERY steep and stupidly bendy) whilst doing a gentle 60mph. Forgot the lights cut out whilst the engine is starting. Didn't help starting it just before a bend.

Thankfully, both the car and myself survived!

We did similar...
A group of us driving a rather knackered old minibus from Aberdeen to Liverpool, got to about Perth before it got dark and the driver had to turn on the headlights, ah, problem...

A quick pit stop to the nearest Halfords gave us the brightest bulbs we could find, which did bugger all for letting us see the road, but did at least give two points of light for others to see us by.

On the plus side, we found it is more than possible to navigate a straightish line down the road based off of the wee signal bumps at the edge of the road where you can hear the rumbling noise when you drive over them.
