This is a question Family codes and rituals

Freddy Woo writes, "as a child we used to have a 'whoever cuts doesn't choose the slice' rule with cake. It worked brilliantly, but it's left me completely anal about dividing up food - my wife just takes the piss as I ritually compare all the slice sizes."

What codes and rituals does your family have?

It sounds like you had a wonderful childhood.
Or was it one of those 'you loved me too much and now Im depressed' childhoods?

It was a belter...
...of a childhood: My parents are amazing. I'm not miserable, I just take far too much interest in things like switching lights on and off, making peoples' faces into triangles and counting to six in my head. :)

Right, I need to stop with the sentimentality. I'm in danger of invalidating my Misanthropes Anonymous membership.
