This is a question Family codes and rituals

Freddy Woo writes, "as a child we used to have a 'whoever cuts doesn't choose the slice' rule with cake. It worked brilliantly, but it's left me completely anal about dividing up food - my wife just takes the piss as I ritually compare all the slice sizes."

What codes and rituals does your family have?

"Put the kettle on"

"It won't suit me"

EVERY TIME FOR 34 YEARS

Oh god
We get that with my family. :( The other one is:

"Dinner's ready!"
"Cool."
"No, it's hot!"

kids fight back....
Quite similar, my mum would politely ask us "would you like to clean your rooms" or "would you like to make me a cup of tea"
Obvious reply of her spoilt brats(read me and sister) "Who likes cleaning/working!?"
Gets old very quickly
