You know, Wolfgang Peterson is awesome in the way he takes the ordinary German soldier or navy man of the WWII and makes them so likeable. You know?

how can you NOT like Thomson when he starts going OFF on HItler when he is hammered in that bar and then realizes "Um, oh shit, I better switch gears, the crowd is getting ugly" and then starts to pick on CHurchill! I think it's the perfect microcosm of the war: he changes his tack because of peer pressure. And FEAR pressure.

Brilliant stuff!
