well there's a bit of logic there (sort of)
One of the most important rules I've always held about gambling is you should make a top budget and stick to it. Regard your limit as the cost of your entertainment.

So if he's treating the 150 quid he went with as money he was going to spend to have fun playing, then he's sort of right in that he came out 60 quid better than he'd planned to.

Much in the same way that if I spend a session on the fruity and finish only a couple of quid down, I've actually done alright, because I've had 30 mins of flashing lights and odds-defying 12s when I go low on an 11 ;).
