But having spent some years living amongst them and seeing their ways, I concur.

Strange...
I was born in Australia but my dad's Welsh so I've been there a few times to visit and had a ball every time. Lovely countryside, the people were warm and friendly, I really enjoyed it - just visiting makes me all proud to have Welsh heritage (even went out and added a red dragon tattoo to the collection after the last trip)... however... nobody seems to like the place, especially the locals.
Last time I was there I rang my Dad and said "Hey! Guess where I am? On the beach at Rhyl!"
His response?
"What on Earth for? Leave now."
