I feel your pain.
I despair with the attitude of some parents towards the efforts their progeny should or shouldn't be required to make. I am not and will never be a perfect parent (or frankly a very good one at that) but I like to think that my kids' teachers have a fair grasp of what they are doing most of the time. The number of parents I know who do homework for their issue on a regular basis is scary.
