At least you are trying though - putting in the effort to do the rounds asking for work is much more likely to succeed that sitting at home moaning about not having work.
Keep at it and you will find something sooner or later. I would suggest though, that taking the initiative to actively seek out work is more likely to win you points with a smaller business run by someone with common sense and a value for a strong work ethic rather than large branches of mega-chain shops, which tend to be managed by HR departments who have silly recruitment targets and checklists to adhere to.
