don't kiss or shake hands, then. Much more likley to catch a mouth infection from that than from sharing a drink.

Generally true;
but then I already tend to avoid the associated risks with these; however the opportunity arises fairly often for legitimate drink sharing which can't really be done perfectly.
I already dislike shaking hands, and try to avoid it; I don't shake hands with just anyone. However it can be worked around with good hygine practice: Washing hands before dining, not rubbing eyes with dirty hands; and so on.
It used to gross me out when colleagues would be serving on a checkout, handling tainting things like chemicals, raw meat and currency; then go straight onto break and happily eat their sandwiches / crisps / other hand-held foods.
