It's more likely that homosexuality has long been erroneously associated with pedophilia, and is still implicitly associated by the red top press and conservative bigots, so any lazy reference in that regard is genuinely offensive to anybody who's gay and over thirty. Claiming it is evidence of Online Upset is a little like calling somebody a dirty paki and then sneering when they can't take the "joke".
