I find that if you express an interest in plants with a neighbor you can end up with all sorts of things.Like more plants, potting soil, plant pots, and even a tree. Of course, it's just being neighborly, so there's a double benefit.
And humans aren't that bad. Most welcome a little human contact in our day and age.
