I used to do this!
When I was a lad I worked at the West London Shooting Grounds as a "trapper" ie the poor slave who released clay pigeons for toffs to shoot at. Consequently my colleagues and I had access to unused shotgun cartridges of which the charge or powder proved most useful. At the same time as this, the A40 was being upgraded at Northolt and we used to steal the bolts from the arnco to make bombs but instead of match heads we used the powder. We got through many many bolts and the construction workers must have been very puzzled as to why they had to continuously replace bolts on the new arnco at the Target roundabout. happy days indeed....
