I went round my flatmate's room to see if he fancied going out for a drink.
He said he couldn't, he was in the middle of a mission.
A mission?
He was playing a WW2 flight sim and bombing Dresden. In real time.

You should have got a carry out and gotten back in his just in time to see Dresden with its fiery rooftops :)

Him obsessing over computer games was a regular thing, and sometimes if I had nothing to do I would sit in his room with a can of beer/cup of tea and watch him play computer games.

We once both had an essay crisis and needed to stay up all night to finish work for the next morning. However, knowing that both of us were awake and bored, we ended up playing two-player Operation Desert Storm on the PS2 until 6 in the morning, then panicking and finishing our essays in about an hour apiece. Good times...
