What don't you understand? What have you politely gone along with whilst internally going WTF?

ronFellow programmer / techie at work (but 20 years my elder). He says "this is really difficult because blah blah" or "we can't / shouldn't do this because blah blah" or "this is really complicated because blah blah" and as soon as he gets to the blah bit I drift off, then he starts laughing Dr. Hibberd fashion, and I always feel obliged to grin rather than argue with him. Even though I always disagree and do things my way anyway. I certainly don't get him, or what he is laughing about.
