But with a group of say 8 guys through the day-time, a round will cost you £20-£25.
Typically one or two of this group will skin out and go home - pah lightweights. So you're only going to see some of that money back. And say another 2 people join the group and you just so happen to buy a round while they're there, you're again extending how much you've spent compared to how much you're getting back.
So I could spend £25 for technically one drink of my own, and then get 5 drinks back out of that. 5 single vodka redbulls barely get me tipsy, so next thing you know the rounds right back to you.
So buying the second round the same principles apply, what may appear quite non-consequential (one or two people running off) has already set me back, and going onto my 6th (to 10th) vodka, I'll have spent £50.
By this time it may only be 6pm. I'd imagine before moving on theres time to buy another 2 rounds each, so possibly 15-20 vodkas each with a loss of arund £100 - before we've moved down town!
By this stage I'll be approaching hammered and the rounds will be all to fuck. So I'll be buying all sorts of drinks at different bars in close proximity. So you can see how it spirals out of control from that initial £100 for a couple of rounds.
