I can understand thisif there is any item of clothing worth spending money on it is underwear.
most of my clothes are as cheap as possible, but I wouldn't forgoe my calvin klein and ted baker boxer shorts

The only clothing itemI spend half decent money on is shoes. And even then I buy them at factory outlet discount stores.
Nobody who matters sees my pants, except my gf. And she's only interested in removing them. :)
