My mate Dan is afraid of turning his back on a flushing toilet. "It'll suck me in", he says. Can you beat him with your own true story of an irrational fear?

ladders.
i fear ladders with an abject terror. but only folding ones. i will climb scaffolding, straight up-and-down ladders, bridges, walls, whatever; with the comfort of a monkey in a tree. but folding ladders, even the ones for household use with only three rungs, terrify me. i shake like a leaf and must have someone behind me to steady it.
