I saw someone's front room through their window once
It was done out in (what I thought at the time was) a very fetching shade of dark red. I liked it so much I went to Wickes and bought some of those match pots to try out, put splashes of them onto the wall I wanted to paint, and having decided on my favourite shade, bought four
tins of the stuff.

14 years later, the tins still sit, unopened, in the cupboard under my stairs. Partly because I'm still not sure I like the colour I chose. Partly because hundreds of other Victorian terraces like mine have been done in similar shades of red/brown/reddish-brown/brownish-red since then, so it looks a bit common. And partly because I'm lazy (ok, mainly that, since I still have the same six colour test splodges I originally put there in 1999).
