Higher EducationWhen I started my PhD I was put into this shared office with a bunch of 2nd and 3rd years, most of whom were very nice. However, one person in particular, a 2nd year, would make all sorts of weird insinuating remarks that the only reason I got into the program was (as he put it) "a person of colour".
Move forward 3 years later, I'm about to submit, and he's nowhere near. From next week, I effectively become his supervisor -- on his insistence.
And to be perfectly honest I'm not that good anyhow. I just got lucky. Karma is a bitch

yay PhD'sI'd say you probably got on the course because you got a good degree and showed a significant interest in the subject.
