I only kill redbacks and whitetips.As I too wouldn't like my child to be bitten by them. Luckily we don't get too many funnel-webs over this way (yet).
The rest of the large spider population manages to keep a lot of the flies and mozzies dead and not annoying me.
This specimen was sitting on the back door step the other day.
