The question of the week is for ON TOPIC stuff. About the question.

Now whenever I mod stuff people go "it's not fair you didn't mod X Y or Z" and that's because I didn't see X Y or Z. We mod the stuff we notice.

If we didn't mod the question of the week, then week after week self-referential crap would win. Or stuff that says "vote for me!"

We do this to make the best of readable and interesting to third parties, so new people join and the whole site doesn't die, which it would if we closed it to new comers.
