This is a question Letters they'll never read

"Apologies, anger, declarations of love, things you want to say to people, but can't or didn't get the chance to." Suggestion via reducedfatLOLcat.

Dear Cyclists
As a pedestrian, it's hard enough finding footpaths that aren't covered in dog shit, have broken paving slabs or some inconsiderate bastard's car parked on it without having someone bearing down on you on a mountain bike. The road's the place for you, not the footpath.

And to the cunt who nearly wiped me out the other night while walking the dog - Thanks. At least your lights were working, you had a cycle helmet on and a hi-vis jacket, so what the buggery fuck were you doing on the footpath at 9pm in a quiet village?

Don't get me started on the ones who sail through red lights and then have the temerity to ring their bells at pedestrians daring to cross while the green man is on. Aaaaarrrghhhh.

Dear Ped,
It wasn't me. But as a two wheeled hooligan myself, I must agree with you. All things considered, cycling on the footpath is as much as a crime as kiddie fiddling, and running red lights the same as robbing your own - you just don't do it.

Bicycles are, in law, carriages (as a consequence of the Taylor v Goodwin judgment in 1879) and should be on the road not pavement.

So next time, cunt them in the fuck! (or give them a gentle reminder)

Dear G.I.T.
As a bycyclist, I understand your annoyance at those who bycycle on pavements, something I rarely do. Please understand that the (seemingly) majority of motorists treat us with utter contempt. They run us off the road, drive in cycle lanes, pull in front of us and slam their brakes on and so on. I'm not excusing peddling hooligans on the pavement, and when I'm forced of the road by yet another car/truck/bus in order to save my life I am more concerned with not throwing up than whether I've inconvenienced anyone. So fair enough, if someone cycles on the pavement for no good reason, chuck a stick through the spokes of their front wheel, but there are times when we have no option if we don't want to be squished.

As a cyclist myself
and a pedestrian, I know only too well of the idiots in cars. I've no problem with the vast majority of cyclists, even if they are on the pavement. It's the ones who treat the pavement as their own personal racetrack and expect pedestrians to get the fuck out of the way. I've lost count of the number of times when I've stood stock still on the pavement and had a glaring cyclist complain that I won't stand aside.

I've been knocked off my bike twice (once left unconcious on a busy road while the offending drive fucked off sharpish). Both times because the car driver wanted to turn left into a side street and either couldn't see me (broad daylight) or couldn't believe that I wanted to continue on down the road I was on.

But the best example of stupid driving was one of our beloved taxi drivers (where DO they train them?) He decided to reverse up a bus lane, on a one way street, through a pedestrian crossing which I was using at the time to cross this busy main road. Of course, he couldn't see that the lights were red so just kept reversing, clipping me as I crossed the road. Oh I just wish I'd had the foresight to pull out my phone and video the incident.

Right, glad that's off my chest - Honest I'm not usually angry, only when people keep trying to kill me.
