Hahahaha!I did the whole Euro-rail backpacking hostel thing in my gap year in 1998.
I did not think about packing earplugs. Every fucking hostel room I stayed in had another person who kept me awake by snoring.
Eventually, I had had enough and checked into a hotel for a few nights. Yes, it meant that I had to spend more money than I wanted to - but I just did it in order to get some snore-free sleep.
