This reminds me of something that I unwittingly got myself into:in secondary school, a bunch of us were sitting around swapping trivia. I in particular was regaling everybody with how much general knowledge I had. One lad said, "'Data' [pronouncing it 'day-ta', as most do] is actually meant to be pronounced 'daa-ta'." I confirmed that this was true. "Ha ha!" he said, "I made that up!"
He might very well have made it up on the spot, but it is actually true! I looked as though I'd just being agreeing to fit in, and no-one believed my protests to the contrary. Cunt.
