I've hit my forties, and my midlife crisis has manifested itself in old band T-shirts and a desire to go on camper van holidays. How has it hit you, or - if you are still a youngling - your elders?

Formed a band and last year, so for my 50th we played our first gig and we did a pretty good job and got people dancing.

Bought a guitar, progressed from inept to mediocre, too afraid to be in a band!

We were all beginners of similar ability, but decided to have a go - result is it gives you a reason to practise, and you get a lot better quicker. What we've all agreed is that if it isn't fun we don't do it. Embarrassment never killed anyone, and it's a great incentive to really practise.
