Why doesn't he phone up the local ambulance station?I'm sure they'd want to know about this and would want to get it sorted.
(Although there's somewhat of an attraction to having a tracker of your locale's morbity in your pocket. I would take a certain soleace in seeing each one of those text and knowing that I was still alright...).
