Yes, exactly
Snake is everything a mobile phone game should be. Let's face it: the screen is tiny. If I want to play a proper computer game, then I will wait until I'm at a proper computer. I find it no fun to play 3D shoot-em-ups and the like on a little mobile phone screen - with crappy keypad controls - so I don't bother.
Snake was perfect for a mobile: just enough amusement to pass the time while sitting on the tube.

yeah exactly right
one of the first things i did when i got my brand spanking new sony ericsson which came with virtual tennis and all the rest, was download tetris at the cost of a fiver. bargain.

Golf
Crazy Golf was quite good fun on my old Sony Ericsson. I spent many a happy hour playing that on the pan at work.
