Oh God I'm in pain laughingI love that your takeaway from this experience was a feeling of pride at getting it right. It's very British - we take much more pleasure from correctly predicting doom than we would ever get from avoiding the foreseen trouble in the first place!

It was so much cheaper than the diesel equivalentI figured replacing the head gasket at about £350 and I'd still be quids in.
