This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

Star Wars fancy dress
I cringe with embarrassment.

End of the 90s my mates and I were very excited about The Phantom Menace (who'd have thought it would turn out so rubbish). So anyway we've purchased lightsabers that light up, make a buzzing noise and a cracking noise when you hit two of them together.

I think there was some fancy dress thing on somewhere - it's the only way I can excuse dressing up as Qui Gon Jinn. I already had the long hair you see. My best mate dressed up as Obi Wan Kenobi.

A group of us went to a slightly dodgy pub before heading to the actual event and we were getting some looks and comments etc. When we eventually left my friend got accosted by one particularly drunk guy. His costume was recognised as that of Obi Wan aka Ben Kenobi.

"Hey aw'right there pal? Aw'right Ben?"

"Yeah thanks."

"Oh aye, aw'right Ben? Aw'right Ben!?"

"..."

"Aw'right Ben-d Over!"

The guy then grabbed my friend, turned him round and pushed him over the bar. He was then play-shagged-up-the-arse while the guy was laughing maniacally.

"Aw'right Ben? Can you feel The Force eh Ben?"

We made a mental note to ourselves, next time we were going to do a stupid nerdy thing like that again we weren't going to do it in a townie pub.

Feel the force
I know some people *ahem* who bought lightsabers and went to the cinema for attack of the clones.

They sat in a row, forming their own 'Jedi Council', waving the lightsabers at exciting moments...

Well, at least it made the film watchable...
